The Silver Conference has historically attracted players who may not have been considered to be at the same top level as the 'elite' Gold Conference players, although some Silver players moved up to join the Gold and certainly did not look out of place. Players winning the Gold Conference have been omitted from taking part in the Silver Conference.

SEASON 26

A new season of the Silver Conference will start on 31st December 2022 and those eligible for the Silver are welcomed to take part.

Any member of SS with a minimum of 10 games on the SS ladder and who has never won the SS Cam Cup Gold Conference, may participate in the competition.

The qualifying format will be the open system again where you can play any eligible SS member sets of EIGHT games exactly. So you can win 8-0, 7-1, 6-2, 5-3 or tie 4-4. Once you play the 8th game, the match has ended. Unlimited number of sets against participants. Play 20 sets for a bonus 10 points. Once the qualifying period ends, the play-offs will commence.

SEASON 26 PRELIMINARY QUALIFYING ROUND
FORMAT & RULES

QUALIFYING PERIOD STARTS 31ST DECEMBER AND ENDS 31ST MARCH 2023.

IMPORTANT – THE FORMAT HAS CHANGED. IT IS NO LONGER THE BEST OF 11 GAMES. If you play fewer than 8 games (unless your opponent gives the rest), or more than 8, the set may count as void. SO PLAY 8 AND STOP AT 8 PER SET!

SEASON 26 FORMAT AND ADDITIONAL RULES
These rules run in conjunction with the majority of original SS Cam Cup rules which remain applicable. Certain rules supersede others as applicable. PLEASE READ THE FULL RULES ON THE 'RULES' PAGE.

ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFYING PERIOD
Any member of SS who appears on the SS ladder with 10 games or more and has NOT won any SS Cam Cup Gold Conference season, may participate in the Silver Conference. The qualifying period runs from 1ST JANUARY 2023 to 31ST MARCH 2023 and a player needs TEN sets played to be eligible.

SETS AND REPORTING RESULT
A player may play as many sets as desired within the qualifying period time restraints against any Silver Conference opponent listed, and can play unlimited sets against any individual opponent. Players are not obliged to have to accept any invitation to play. See FORMAT OF MATCHES for details of how to play a set. Both players – winner and loser – MUST report the result using the 'Reporting' button at the top of this website. Two points will be deducted for failing to report.

REQUIRED SETS
A player who appears in the TOP 5 PLACES in the qualifying table should try to play opponents also in the top 5 at least once or twice if possible. Although a player may play an opponent as many times as he or she wishes, more than 3 sets against a player with an average of 3 or less in Season 25, or graded B, will score HALF POINTS. The maximum number of sets completed by a player in a qualifying season is 25.

REPORTING SS LEAGUES
Kerry (Match Supervisor) will report ALL games won or lost up to 6 games per player; this means you DO NOT need to report SS Leagues, as long as the result is reported using the 'Reporting' button.

FORMAT OF MATCHES
See right side for results. All matches (or sets) in the Preliminary Qualifying Round are played to EIGHT GAMES. Therefore, the closest result can be a 4-4 tie. Other scores can be: 8-0, 7-1, 6-2 or 5-3, as long as the number of games played adds up to EIGHT. Remember, you can play as many sets as you wish... just make sure you report the result. And you need at least TEN sets to be eligible for the play-offs.

POINTS SYSTEM
• Winning a set: 2 points • Tying a set: 1 point. Winning each game: 1 point. Forfeiting a set once started: 0 points (any games won will not count)
Possible scores are:
8-0 – winning player 10 points, losing player 0 points
7-1 – winning player 9 points, losing player 1 point
6-2 – winning player 8 points, losing player 2 points
5-3 – winning player 7 points, losing player 3 points
4-4 – both players 5 points each
Reaching 20 sets during qualifying period – 10 points

DEDUCTED POINTS
Failing to report the set result – 2 points deducted; third report via 'Issues' for unsporting behaviour – 4 points deducted; unacceptable behaviour or any breach of general rules deemed worthy of a penalty – between 2 and 10 points deducted.

RANKINGS
All points gained by a player, less any deductions, will be divided by the number of sets played, giving a Points Average which will determine the rankings. Depending on the number of participants, the top 5 to 8 players in the rankings after the qualifying period has finished will contest the Silver Conference play-offs. This does NOT apply to the Quarter-Final group – see SS Cam Cup Rule 3(C) if players tie on points.

RANKINGS CRITERIA IF TIED
If the Points Average is tied, the player(s) playing the higher number of sets will take the higher ranking. If the number of sets are tied, the number of sets won and lost (followed by the number of games won and lost if required) will be taken into consideration to determine positions. This does NOT apply to the Quarter-Final group – see SS Cam Cup Rule 3(C) if players tie on points.

PLAY-OFFS
Each player needs to play a minimum of TEN sets to be eligible for the play-offs. The play-offs will commence within a few days of the qualifying period finishing. Should there be insufficient qualifiers to adhere to the knock-out format, a group format may be implemented as deemed necessary. Wildcard entries into the play-offs may be considered should other eligible players be unable to play for any reason. Such a decision will be at the discretion of the organisers as deemed necessary.

IMPORTANT – THE FORMAT HAS CHANGED. IT IS NO LONGER THE BEST OF 11 GAMES. If you play fewer than 8 games (unless your opponent gives the rest), or more than 8, the set may count as void. SO PLAY 8 AND STOP AT 8 PER SET!

REPORTING SS LEAGUESKerry (Match Supervisor) will report ALL games won or lost up to 6 games per player; this means you DO NOT need to report SS Leagues, as long as the result is reported using the 'Reporting' button.

DEDUCTED POINTSFailing to report the set result – 2 points deducted; third report via 'Issues' for unsporting behaviour – 4 points deducted; unacceptable behaviour or any breach of general rules deemed worthy of a penalty – between 2 and 10 points deducted.
